I work in the accounting department of a big high school. I was recently promoted to head the account department. But I have lost interest in working for them. I have sent all the signs to them that I no longer want to work for them so they can fire me, but they don't just seem to be getting it.

Recently, I have been very indifferent about the department that I head such that the organization knows that the department is not working well. But they won't just fire me.

How come they don't see that I want to leave the organization?

Is it not better that you just resign than to be giving subtle signs? They must not fire you for you to leave the organization. Or is there something that you are not saying?

It's possible that they have noticed it but they are simply not willing to let you go cause they value you, or they simply have not seen a replacement yet.

Most likely, they have not seen a suitable replacement. Business organizations can be helpless like that sometimes.

If you are really not interested in working for the company, better find another job and resign instead of waiting for the company to fire you.
Indeed, it's better to submit a resignation letter rather than to wait for the day the company fires the employee who is no longer working for the school. It will be unfair receiving a salary. The best solution if you no longer like the administration is to resign.

Yes that's true, these days it's pretty hard to find good workers, so most businesses would prefer not to let the one they have go.
