According to the report, sixteen people are believed to have been killed in a devastating explosion at a military explosives plant in the US state of Tennessee on Friday morning, with no survivors found, local authorities said Saturday.

The report also said that the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) said in a press release that the number of unaccounted individuals was revised from 18 to 16 after it was determined that two people initially believed to be at the site were not present when the blast occurred.

The explosion took place at Accurate Energetic Systems, LLC, a company specializing in the production of military explosives, around 7:45 a.m. local time, southwest of Nashville, Tennessee. The cause of the blast remains under investigation.

The report added that the response efforts continued through Saturday, with emergency responders from across the region working alongside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which is assisting with the scene. Accurate Energetic Systems has established an assistance center to support families impacted by the incident, providing information, emotional support, and other resources.

In addition to the report, the State Emergency Operations Center remains highly activated to support ongoing coordination.

This tragic explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems in Tennessee is absolutely heartbreaking. Losing sixteen lives in such a sudden and violent incident is devastating, and my heart goes out to the families and loved ones affected. Industrial accidents like this underscore the extreme dangers involved in handling military explosives and the critical importance of rigorous safety protocols. While the cause of the blast is still under investigation, the fact that no survivors were found makes the tragedy even more severe. It is reassuring, however, to see that emergency responders and agencies like the ATF are working tirelessly at the scene, and that the company has set up an assistance center to support those impacted. Beyond the immediate loss, incidents like this can leave long-lasting emotional and psychological scars on communities. I hope authorities conduct a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and prevent such disasters from happening in the future. Safety must always be the top priority.
