16-year-old pregnant girl found dead after suspect cut baby from teen's body: authorities

According to the report, a 16-year-old pregnant girl was found brutally murdered in Brazil, with authorities saying a suspect cut the teenager's unborn baby out of her womb and planned to keep the infant. The Civil Police of Mato Grosso identified the teenager as Emelly Beatriz Azevedo Sena.

The Specialized Homicide and Personal Protection Unit (DHPP) said the suspect "coldly confessed" and admitted to planning and committing the murder in in Cuiabá. Authorities said they launched an investigation Wednesday after the teenager was reported missing. They said she left her home in Várzea Grande when the suspect offered her the clothing. Police were contacted when the suspect and her husband went to an area hospital "with a newborn baby in their arms," saying she just gave birth at their home. That's when employees at the hospital called police. The couple was then taken in for questioning.

That prompted the police to go to the residence of the missing pregnant teen and when they arrived there, they saw the lifeless body of the teen. Her appearance was hard to describe by the authorities. The suspect is still in the police custody.
