At least 19 vehicles at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 parking extension caught fire on Monday, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) confirmed.
"The spread of fire was fast, one vehicle caught fire and it was too late for the freighters to save the cars. News said most of the cars were severely damaged. Normal airport operations continued and no flight was disrupted despite that incident.
It was also reported no one was hurt from the incident and the airport authorities received the report about the fire at 1:28 p.m. and fire out was declared at 1:57 p.m. News said they are looking into several causes, including extreme heat and grassfires. The place was so windy and grassy, the cause of the fire
The MIAA has no liability regarding the incident as the parking area is leased to a private concessionaire.
