According to the report, Ukraine was asked if Ukraine’s long-range combat Monocular could operate at night with day-like vision? Kyiv is betting on a new set of monoculars for military use.
The report stated that MT-GEKKO-PRO-40 and MT-GEKKO-PRO-50 monoculars feature advanced optics capable of spotting enemy personnel up to 500 meters (1,640 feet) and equipment at ranges of 2 kilometers (1.2 miles).
The report also stated that they are positioned as versatile tools, helping troops navigate difficult terrain, see things closer and clearer during equipment checks and repairs, and act as an extra set of eyes for enhanced situational awareness in low-visibility conditions.
The report said that MT-GEKKO monoculars can be used handheld or mounted on helmets and weapons, giving soldiers adaptable observation options for different mission profiles. The report also said that the production details have not been disclosed, but Kyiv said the homegrown monoculars are cheaper to produce than comparable foreign systems.
The report added that the numerical designations of the MT-GEKKO monoculars indicate their field-of-view angles, but otherwise the PRO-40 and PRO-50 share the same specifications. The report also said that both can operate for up to 60 hours on C123A batteries and feature automatic brightness control to maintain consistent image clarity in uneven lighting conditions.
Additionally, Odessa-based developer Mercury Technology also includes a helmet mount, lens cap, and eyecup with each unit, enhancing usability for different mission setups.
