According to the report, US President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to acquire Greenland from Denmark is not a “crazy idea,” a former NATO official said on a WABC radio show. The former supreme allied commander of NATO in Europe, however, dismissed the possibility of military intervention.
The report said that James Stavridis instead advocated for economic engagement as a means to strengthen ties with the region, the retired admiral described Greenland as a “strategic goldmine for the US,” highlighting its location and natural resources.
The report added that the former NATO commander argued that the US should focus on economic engagement to counter Russia and China in the region. The incoming US President Donald Trump renewed interest in acquiring the Danish self-governed island. Trump voiced support for the acquisition of the island, describing it as an “absolute necessity” and a “national security” matter.
This was followed by his son’s visit to Greenland, where he was greeted by some locals who were wearing Make American Great Again (MAGA) hats.
If the intention is for economic progress, then there is no reason why not sell Greenland to the USA. The residents will remain there while experiencing the economic growth and development through President Trump.
