According to the report, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the southern coast of Japan on Thursday, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami advisory.

According to Japan's public broadcaster NHK, the advisory was for several regions in the southwestern Japanese islands of Kyushu and Shikoku. Initially, the Japan Meteorological Agency said the earthquake registered a preliminary magnitude of 6.9, but it later upgraded the preliminary magnitude to 7.1.

The quake was reportedly centered off the eastern coast of Japan's southern main island of Kyushu at a depth of about 30 kilometers.

The people were in complete panic and so shocked that they experienced an earthquake many times this month. This time it seemed deadly that many were affected.

Japan is under the ring of fire and because of that, they always experience earthquake. That is one reason why I do not like to work in Japan despite invitation of my coursons there. I am scared of a quake
