A 32-year-old man identified as Ndifreke Isaiah Nelson, strangle his girlfriend, Emem Monday Effanga, 39, to death

Men of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old man identified as Ndifreke Isaiah Nelson, for allegedly strangling his girlfriend, Emem Monday Effanga, 39, to death in her apartment over a dispute involving her phone.

Confirming his arrest to newsmen, spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Timfon John, said the suspect was apprehended in a church in Uyo while attempting to escape upon sighting the police.

According to the PPRO, the police received a report in February 2025 that the deceased was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
