A boy named John Peter Panti, aged 18, drowned in Sta. Barbara in Pangasinan on Thursday. He slipped and fell into the river in Barangay Leet while out with his friends. They were about to swim when something happened. The current was strong, and he was soon carried away. The authorities started a search and rescue operation. After some time, they discovered John Peter unconscious, trapped in bamboo plants. He was brought to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
