So I was in a grocery shop early this morning. A small girl was sent by her mom to buy groceries. Her card could not pay because of network problems.

She called her mom and the mom spoke to the owner of the grocery shop to give her the little girl the groceries, that when she was stepping out, she would give the man cash. The man refused to release the groceries for the little girl till the mom had to come from home.

The lady started shouted at the grocery shop owner. She was obviously a well known customer to the man. And the child was running late for school that morning. She created a scene in the shop. I felt the man should have given the little girl the stuff since the mother was a customer of over 4 years who bought regularly from him. Understanding is necessary in business.

Yes as a business owner, it is also part of our duty to understand our customers and potential customers. This is the only way we can give them customer satisfaction.
