Bertha Gisela Gaytán, A candidate running to be mayor in one of Mexico’s most violent cities has been killed on the first day of her campaign. This might seems like Mexico's bloodiest election on history. with this new death at least 22 mayoral candidates would have been murdered since September 2023.

The candidate is to said to have been shot in a town, the city of Celaya, Gaytán was running for Morena, Mexico’s governing party. The election will take place on June 2nd

It is really a dangerous game. Just to campaign for the very first time she was gun down and I read several other people in the party went through the same ordeal. it is just terrible

Politics is not made for chicken hearts and the unprepared. She suppose to know about the rate of violence and killing in the locality and make necessary arrangements against such gun attacks. Or if possible, go home and enjoy her life.

Yesh, that's politics for you. They are usually engaged in by violent people. So when you are a threat yo them you would be killed.
