The police in Anambra state have arrested a native doctor and one other for allegedly running a kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate in the state.

In a statement released today November 23, the command's spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, says the suspects were arrested following the testimony of a rescued kidnap victim on 22/11/2024 by 6 pm near Abagana Girls Secondary School.

Ikenga said the Joint security forces comprising of Police and Anambra Vigilantes busted the Shrine of the Native Doctor at Uru, Abagana, arrested two suspects and launched a manhunt on two others, recover one pump action, the victim’s vehicle, rope, horsewhip and other incriminating items.

The suspects include one Maduabuchukwu, Ikechukwu Okafor age 30yrs, and Nweze Chijindu aged 38yrs all natives of Abagana while One Supuluchukwu Nweze and Sunday Nwakanze aged 30yrs are presently at large.

It is very unfortunate that even a native doctor will engage in robbery. Native doctors are seen as custodians of traditional values. I know that robbery is not one of traditional values and will not be. Let those suspects face the law.
