Though one can understand finding your partner in such a situation can be annoying or even heartbreaking, but to the point of killing? Most people don't tend to think about the effect of their actions before they actually take it.

Your last sentence is apt. They just carry out their brutal act at the heat of the moment and it is always a disaster

The cause was jealousy. The wife must have stayed at home and not to drink liquor with a man despite a friend but it's malicious for the husband. The wife was at fault and the prize of the husband's impulsive action is staying behind bars or death sentence.

True, it's more like they lack the self control whenever their emotions take over, or when they meet situations beyond their control.

Impulsive action guided by high levels of emotions and jealousy has led to this incident. We are hearing more and more such incidents on a regular basis. In this fast paced lives, people are running on high level of emotions and are not able to handle it well. It might have been annoying or hurting, but it doesn't justify killing

So much killing of the female gender in South Africa especially it is always by the husband or boyfriend
That sounds upsetting. In most of the so called civilized societies, patriarchy still exists. At times, males are too possessive about their partners and treat them like their property than a human being. This might be one reason behind these killings out of being over possesive and controlling.

That's right some men don't take no for an answer when once you don't agree with them they just plot to eliminate you which is too bad

And sayings like testosterone aggression or men will be men... are only to validate such aggression and inappropriate behaviour. The social and cultural mindset has to change to bring up more sensible males in the society. Everyone plays a role there

It’s possible that the police officer became jealous and suspected his girlfriend of cheating on him. Regardless of the reason, it is never justified to kill someone out of jealousy. He should have communicated with his girlfriend about his concerns instead.

That police boyfriend was impulsive. He should have thought many times and cooled down himself before doing an act to kill. He satisfied his jealous feelings but the result is staying behind bars for life. The girl should have not provoked the boyfriend.

An impulsive action that has ruined his life and put him behind bars. The situation did not help anyone. One life was lost and other would be behind the bars. Emotional control is so important and such stories tell that to us from time to time. We have to inculcate emotional control in day to day life. Provocation can come any moment from many places and people. But then controlling our emotions and not let it become an ugly outburst has to be practiced. When emotions are too high, logic is blinded. And one ends up doing stupid things that might ruin the life forever.

Killing anyone for any reason, no matter how justified it might be is not acceptable. It's the worst way for any revenge or settlement. The killed person does not suffer, he/ she just dies. The killer stays with the trauma and consequences for whole life. And the family of the dead are the ones who really suffer. They might be innocent and have no involvement at all.
But then, if you are not able to control your emotions, you will have no logical reasoning for all this.

He is a police officer. His duty is to protect people's lives and not to kill without a crime done only jealousy without basis. He was abusing his power as having a gun. A gun is for the criminals. He's now facing his verdict because of his impulsive decision.
