Abducted Anglican cleric,and his driver have regained their freedom from kidnappers' captivity.

The good news is that the Abducted Anglican cleric, Most Rev. Prof. Godwin Okpala and his driver have regained their freedom after one month in kidnappers' captivity.

T he retired Archbishop of the Niger Province and Bishop of Nnewi and the driver were kidnapped by unknown gunmen on December 7, 2024.

They set out on a trip to the Umuchu community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State but failed to arrive at their destination.

St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Nnewi, confirmed their release in a Facebook post on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Thank God they came out alive. There have been an increase in the case of kidnapping recently. A brother of one of my classmates from secondary school was kidnapped last month, we had to start contributing to be able to gather the ransom.
