Some bad elements used AI to generate realistic-looking fake videos and audio, called deepfakes, which can be used to spread misinformation, manipulate public opinion, and damage reputations. Some experts warn about the potential for highly advanced AI to pose an existential threat to humanity in the distant future. This is a highly speculative area, but it highlights the importance of AI development and governance.
