According to the report, Republican candidate Donald Trump is set to make a historic return to the White House, as he defeated Democrat Kamala Harris to secure the mandate to be the 47th president of the US.

As the results poured in, the world started weighing the impact of these consequential elections. Leaders across the globe reacted to the results. African leaders have also been quick to send congratulatory messages.

Historically, Africa has stayed low on Washington's agenda. Both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump failed to make US-Africa ties an election issue. Neither Trump nor the outgoing president Joe Biden visited Africa during their terms.

The report added that as a champion of protectionism, he rolled back some investments and proposed cutting aid to Africa in his first term. But amid changing geopolitical dynamics, how will Trump's Africa policy pan out?

Africa has a lot to offer and it also needs a lot from America. I can see a bright future for both groups of peoples in the very near future. If Trump‘s approach is indeed as described by your political analyst, I think that is a great stance for America and the globe at large. It’s time to emphasize rebuilding America because without its strength being cultivated at this critical moment, it’s influence will wane anyway.
