On July 10, 2023, an Odia ( a regional language in India) based news station 'Odisha TV' unveiled 'Lisa', which is India's first regional AI news anchor. Before that 'Sana' was unveiled on a national news channel. Sana was the first AI anchor in Indian news industry. Sana has already done 200 hours of program on the national news channel.
Lisa is the first one in the regional languages area. She marks significant milestone in regional television broadcasting. Lisa can speak a myriad of languages including Odia, English and many more. She is the first AI anchor in ths arena of free to air regional television broadcasting.
More works are being done to improve these AI news anchor and make them more proficient with their communication and interactions.
Now, the big question arises that Do we need to put our time and money to develop such technologies that would slowly replace the human ? We have so many well qualified and talented anchors out there who are seeking jobs. Should we kill their jobs using AI anchors? Is this the ethical use of AI?

In an era where we have AI taking over everything, an AI newscaster is not out of place. I bet it would have the same efficiency with the human newscasters and even more.
Yes, it would be. But my concern is where would we use the human talent. And we already have people who are jobless. Why to create more joblessness. I am happy with technology assisting human and making them more efficient. I don't see it as a good sign when human are replaced with a technology. That would bring in other kind of chaos.

Of course yes my friend. These people are very important in the news industry. They are the ones that do the breaking for the news and making them very consumable
Yes, we need news anchors. They maje these news more relevant and interesting by the way they present it, they also participate in moderation of debates on their news channels. But aren't we happy with the human news anchors? There are so many of them who are doing their job well. And there are many more who are talented and have got the education and training to be one. Why to deprive them of the job that they can do so well? Why to replace them with these AI news anchors? I think we have to draw a lone. AI should come as a help and assistance. It should not eat away the jobs oe start replacing the real human from all places. A huge increase in unemployment avd then job loss in a big way can cause many more chaos and problems in society.
