Air Pollution in Skopje Again Exceeds EU Limits, City Implements Temporary Measures
Following three consecutive days of severely high PM2.5 and PM10 particle levels, the City of Skopje has activated Phase 2 of its winter pollution protocol. Measures include banning the use of solid fuel (wood, coal) for heating in households connected to the district heating system, restricting construction site activity, and advising against outdoor sports for vulnerable groups. The inversion weather pattern is expected to persist for several more days. Environmental NGOs criticized the measures as "reactive and insufficient," demanding faster rollout of subsidies
