In 2025, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) released a list of the most unusual items seized at airport checkpoints in the United States. Topping the list was a fake bomb seized at Boise Airport, Idaho in May. Despite the owner’s intentions to appear harmless, such items are strictly prohibited from being transported on airplanes.

At other airports, officers found unexpected items such as razor blades hidden in clothing at Denver International Airport. There was also a knife hidden inside a knee brace at Quad Cities International Airport, Illinois.

In Anchorage, Alaska, they found pills hidden inside a shampoo bottle, and Miami International Airport witnessed bullets stuffed inside a bottle.

And as expected, weapons were also not lacking. George Bush International Airport in Houston seized a gun hidden inside a golf bag.

This list of strange objects reminds passengers that aviation security requires the utmost attention and that attempts to conceal dangerous or unacceptable items have no place.
