A farm in central Alberta has once again caught the eye of many after a cow gave birth to triplets for the second time in a row. Surprisingly, the cow was the first to give birth to triplets on the farm last year.
Shortly after the start of 2026, Stacey Simpson, owner of Lucky 7 Cattle Co. near Sedgewick, found herself counting down in amazement: one, two, three. Her five-year-old cow, Dukey, began showing signs of labor just hours after the new year began.
Simpson was surprised to see the symptoms persist even after two calves were born. When she returned to help Dukey, she discovered the third calf’s legs sticking out. The three calves were named Carla, Darla and Marla, and all were born healthy.
This is not the first time the farm has witnessed such miracles. Dukey’s mother gave birth to triplets last year, Hewey, Dewey and Louie, who are still with the farm.
Kylie, Stacey's sister, said the odds of something like this happening are slim to none, and for it to happen twice is a bit of a shock.
A video posted on the Lucky 7 Cattle Co. Facebook page showing Dukey and his calf has garnered nearly two million views, with comments from people around the world. Simpson said the family will continue to follow Carla, Darla and Marla this year, as they have made a huge impact on social media.
