According to the report, protests across Iran intensified and hardened as demonstrators clashed with security forces in multiple cities, marking the fourth day of unrest driven by anger over economic collapse and political repression.
The report stated that the demonstrations, which began on December 29, rapidly evolved into direct challenges to the clerical establishment, with chants openly targeting Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The report added that gunfire, tear gas, and water cannons were deployed in cities including Fasa, Hamedan, Lorestan, and Asadabad, where residents remained in the streets despite live ammunition and chemical agents.
In addition, authorities reported injuries among police officers and multiple arrests, including students and alleged protest organisers. Monarchist slogans and calls supporting exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi signalled a notable shift in dissent.
Despite conciliatory rhetoric from President Masoud Pezeshkian, warnings from prosecutors and the Revolutionary Guard underscored the regime’s readiness to respond forcefully. The unrest represented Iran’s most widespread protests since the 2022 uprising following Mahsa Amini’s death.
