Amazing Flowers in Rio de Janeiro

I am amazed by the panorama of the Tail Pot palm trees in Rio that are blooming for the first and last time in many years. These trees, planted since the sixties, are now producing millions of beautiful white flowers that bloom on their large leaves. It is amazing to see a tree endure the tenacious years of forty to eighty years to bloom only once and then die and leave a legacy in the street.

This tree, native to India and Sri Lanka, can reach a height of thirty meters and produce about twenty-five million flowers, using the power it has hidden for many decades. It reminds me that patience brings unique fruits even if they take a long time to appear.
