According to the report, Amazon is planning a significant automation expansion that could eliminate the need to hire more than half a million workers in the US over the coming years, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

The report also stated that the internal company documents and interviews reviewed by the newspaper reveal that Amazon's robotics division aims to automate three-quarters of its operations. The strategy could allow the US e-commerce giant to avoid hiring over 160,000 new workers until 2027 alone, with the efforts potentially saving USD12.6 billion between 2025 and 2027.

The report also said that Amazon projects that it will double product sales until 2033 without corresponding workforce growth, according to the documents.

In addition to the report, it maintains that automation will free employees from repetitive work and create new technical positions in robot maintenance and engineering.

Since 2018, Amazon's US workforce has grown sharply, reaching approximately 1.2 million employees.

This is where the world is leading to, most companies have already started doing this, this would make a lot of people jobless.

I agree with you, there will be thousands of Amazon employees jobless. They will be compensated; they have to invest or do business to sustain. No one has ever thought that a situation like this will happen. It is so sad.

Robots don't have emotions. How could a company be harmonious if being with robots. There is no strong connections. Amazon should better consider the economic conditions of the retrenched employees.

Robots don't use logic but respond to programming. This maybe create discrepancy.

Amazon also knows it, but their urgent need for retrenchment is unstoppable because of the global crises they are facing to sustain. Those retrenched will receive a huge separation pay.

No business sustains on lies and cheating. That's what Amazon is doing.

We only hear rumors, we don't know their economic crises. We cannot judge Amazon as liars and cheaters. We all know how the world suffer economic crises and businesses are very much affected.
