It is his opinion and it is not binding on anyone. A virgin is due to marry a virgin anyways. No need to make it look like a general standard.

Well, though this does not mean it brings lasting marriage without other efforts but it is still the best as you start the marriage with purity

I think the evangelist knows what he is saying. Virginity creates eternal bond of love and trust in a marriage. Statistically, women that married as virgin is more likely to keep their marriage than those that doesn't.
