The anti-decentralized finance (DeFi) campaign, which specifically targets the Clarity Act, appears to be a manifestation of the increasing political intensity of the cryptocurrency debate within the Senate. The thing that relates the most to me, though, is the fact that the purpose of this and other events is to shape the public opinion, which promotes DeFi as a threat and has the potential of limiting the regulatory framework for the benefit of the new technologies. I believe that the promotion of such campaigns and the existence of the Clarity Act, which seeks to create a more distinct regulatory framework, show the influence of the established financial lobbies, which view the potentials of the cryptocurrencies as a threat to their business models. The thing that matters the most to me, though, is the fact that the future of the cryptocurrencies requires finding the right level of regulation and freedom of innovation.
