A Nigerian man, Dayo Aderinto has said that any woman who insists on having a court wedding has an ulterior motive.


“Traditional or at most church wedding is more than enough. In today’s time any woman who insist you must do a court wedding especially if you live in the US is a red. Don’t say I didn’t update you,” he wrote.

I think is a red flag in western countries but in Nigeria, the court doesn't have much recognition and power when it comes to marriage issues. I knew of couples who have been in court for over 8 years seeking divorce but it have not materialized.

If you are in Nigeria, just simply go for your traditional wedding and maybe the Church wedding, it doesn't have to be grand. But what if the man is the one asking for a court wedding, is this also a red flag?
