Anyone had experience with bitcoin investment schemes?

Has anyone here actually had experience investing in one of those bitcoin investment schemes you sometimes see promoted? You know the ones, where they promise huge returns in a short period of time. They always sound too good to be true and after doing some research it seems most are just outright scams to steal your coins. I'm wondering if anyone here has any stories of dealing with these types of things? How did it turn out and what are the signs of one that's obviously not legit? Looking to understand more about how to identify and avoid potential scams in this space.

The only bitcoin investment that I do is to buy and hold the crypto for some time and cash out when its price goes up. Other bitcoin investment schemes are scams.
