A merger in business is a situation when two closely related companies or companies in the same industry fuse together to become one. Mergers are always most times negotiated because of financial challenges from one end of the merging companies.

But I want to know if financially healthy companies can merge. What could be the the motivation for financially healthy companies to merge?

Financial healthy companies do merge. Around 2000, a lot of banks merged to raise fund to expand their businesses. Companies don't only merge because of bankruptcy. In fact, most merge is mostly for capitalisation.

if you want a more solid business or you want a kind of expansions these can make two companies merge into a bigger company and it would e operated on a higher scale.
That's true, I believe I have heard cases about of healthy companies merging just to reach out to more areas and even counties.
