No they are not. Some are just for escaping punishment but others are said to hurt others and even some people to jail.
You are right, even if lie is a lie but the magnitude and the intention of the lie is different.
Not all lies are equal. Some lies are so thick that they can make someone to die of heart attack on hearing the truth. A man dated a girl and told her his wife had died while the wife was hale and hearty at home with the kids.
Thay is evil, that man ia evil and don't deserve any family. This thing is common in many country.
I think that not all lies are equal because it all depends on the situation. It doesn't matter, for example, if a child lied to his mother, how many cookies she ate, and the fact that a loved one is lying about not cheating on you
