Are similar businesses allowed to operate close to each other in your country?

Business competition is fierce and it gets worse when someone just situates his or her business quite close to your own. Some even go as far as establishing their own businesses within the same premises that an already established business of similar nature is located.

Are people allowed to establish similar businesses close together in your location?!

In my country l think that those businesses are very much allowed, and operating the way it is now.

In my city, businesses are allowed to operate close to each other. In fact, in a shopping mall, there are many shops which sell clothing and shoes. And we have a Food Street here where there are many restaurants operating there.
