Most smartphones allow for apps to be set to auto update themselves whenever an update is available. While that can be very good. Are there any disadvantages that one might face allowing apps to update themselves automatically? What are the possible disadvantages of auto update of apps?

Some apps that you might not even be using would get auto updated when you have activated auto updates on your smartphone.

The only disadvantage is the use of your data, there are times where you might not want to update an app due to you trying to mange your data, auto update would consume your data, especially updating apps you rarely use.
That's true and it's a genuine concern. Before you wake up, your subscription is already exhausted and you have to repurchase because of auto updates.

Lol it happened to a friend of mine just yesterday. Due to the increase of data price he was trying to manage his data, only for him to check that the data he bought yesterday has finished. Later he found out all his apps where on auto update.
Of course yes. The main disadvantage for that is the way to get auto update for unwanted apps on the phones.
Auto update use to consume a lot of data and i discovered and reset it. The only disadvantage is that is it consume data. Now, data is quite expensive in my country.
