According to the report, Christina Marie Chapman of Litchfield Park, Arizona, admitted to helping overseas IT workers who were posing as U.S. citizens and residents. The scheme generated more than $17 million in illicit revenue for her and North Korea. According to court documents, Chapman conspired with overseas IT workers over three years to steal the identities of U.S. nationals and used those identities to apply for remote IT jobs.
The report said that Chapman also transmitted false documents to the Department of Homeland Security. Chapman and her coconspirators obtained jobs at hundreds of U.S. companies, including Fortune 500 corporations. Chapman received and hosted computers from the U.S. companies, creating a “laptop farm” at her home, so that the companies would believe the workers were in the United States, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia.
This is outrageous! The people involved should be charged with treason. The companies should have vetted the employees more thoroughly, and they should also be held accountable. What a shame that this woman is defaming the USA because of greed.
