According to the report, Russia confirmed on December 8 that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had resigned and left the country after rebel forces captured Damascus. Moscow stated that Assad made the decision after talks with various conflict parties but did not reveal his whereabouts.

The report said that the Russian foreign ministry clarified that Russia did not participate in the discussions. Following the resignation, Russian military bases in Syria were placed on alert, though no immediate threats were reported. Meanwhile, Turkey’s foreign minister suggested Assad was likely no longer in Syria.

The report added that Syrian opposition forces captured several towns in the north, and rebels looted Assad's residence in Damascus. Iran expressed confidence in continued relations with Syria, while other nations like France and Estonia viewed Assad’s fall as a long-awaited development. Several countries, including Ukraine and Germany, welcomed his ouster, with calls for a political solution and protection of minorities in post-Assad Syria.

In response to the unfolding events, Lebanon bolstered its border security and Israeli airstrikes targeted military sites in southern Syria. The Syrian opposition flag was raised in Athens.

Syria for Syrians, not for Russia, Iran, the US, China, or the EU. Let the rightful owners of the soil do what is best for their respective countries. For more clarification on Israel strikes, the rebel leader said they could. They are taking out stockpiles from Iran or buildings affiliated.

There are so many problems now because of the participation of the Syrian rebels. Their government is so weak, cannot solve the problems of rebellion.

Middle east is already hot and will continue for sometime. I see the war in middle east lasting for more than three years! It is very likely that United States is in full support and want to deal with all those militants once for all.
