Athletes lament the death of former SEAG champion Mervin Guarte

Mervin Guarte, an obstacle course runner, was tragically killed at the age of 33. He was a previous Southeast Asian Games champion.

"Today, I mourn the loss of a dear friend. Mervin Guarte, you were one of the best friends and kindest people I have ever met," fellow SEA Games champion Kyle Antolin posted on Tuesday. According to authorities, Mervin Guarte was stabbed to death by an unknown culprit in Oriental Mindoro on Monday night. May Mervin Guarte's soul rest in peace, and I hope the police will be able to find and arrest the suspect soon.
