According to the report, Israel Attorney General has told PM Netanyahu that he must reevaluate National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s tenure. This comes in the wake of allegations of Ben Gvir’s illegal intervention into operational police matters and his politicization of police promotions.
The report said that the two have clashed repeatedly over Ben Gvir’s handling of the police, with the AG declaring a promotion by the far-right minister “illegal.”The Israeli top govt lawyer has also ordered the police commissioner to halt the dismissal of the force’s top legal advisor.
The repot stated that in a letter on Nov. 14, the AG alleged that Ben Gvir has on number of occasions violated orders instructing him not to intervene in police matters. The AG cited numerous acts of intervention by Ben Gvir into police operations.
He might also have reasons to intervene the police. Why should he be sacked right away when he has served Israel with the best of his ability to defend his country.
