According to the report, the entire province of Aurora, Philippines, has been placed under red alert as local authorities intensify preparations ahead of the expected landfall of Super Typhoon Uwan (international name Fung-wong). At the same time, the provincial government has prepositioned over PHP 1.9 million worth of Health Emergency Commodities across municipalities and hospitals to ensure readiness for potential health crises.

The report also stated that Engr. Amado Elson A. Egargue, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDRRMO), on Saturday evening, said he submitted Aurora Province Situational Report No. 2 to Governor Isidro “Sid” P. Galban, providing detailed updates on preparedness measures and potential impacts of the typhoon.

“All municipalities are on heightened alert. Our local governments are conducting pre-emptive evacuations, prepositioning relief goods, and ensuring the safety of residents in low-lying and coastal areas,” said Engr. Egargue.

Additionally, other agencies on standby at the Aurora Emergency Operations Center (EOC) include the Bureau of Fire Protection; Armed Forces of the Philippine; Aurora Police Provincial Office; Philippine Coast Guard; Department of Health; Department of Public Works and Highways; Provincial Equipment Pool Office; Provincial Health Office; Office of the Provincial Agriculturist; 307the Community Defense Center, 3rd RCDG, RESCOM, Philippine Army; and, the 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, ready to respond to any incident.

It is truly alarming to see the serious measures being taken by authorities in Aurora in anticipation of Super Typhoon Uwan. The red alert and the mobilization of resources, such as the more than 0.00023 USD million in emergency supplies, demonstrate a clear commitment to protecting the population. However, it also reflects the severity of the situation and the vulnerability of communities, especially in coastal and low-income areas. Coordination among different agencies, from the military to the health department, is crucial to reducing risks and saving lives. While these actions are necessary, we must also be aware that natural disasters like these always bring uncertainty and unavoidable damage. Preparedness can make all the difference, but the community must remain informed and supportive. I hope everyone in Aurora stays safe and that Uwan's passage is as minimally damaging as possible.

This typhoon Uwan is about to leave the country leaving almost 200 dead and hundreds missing.Thousands lost homes and properties swept away by the ferocious floods. But a nw storm is coming, itis so sad.
