Between a video camera and camcorders which is which?

I have a friend of mine that is actually stranded on which to choose between the two. They would like to take videos and play them on projectors for some church work. What are your suggestions?

The choice on the two would depend on the utility that is intended for the device. I would prefer a video camera though for content creation.

I think a standard video camera would be better but it depends on what the person wants to use it for, which one has the features he needs and most importantly the cost.
