According to the report, the body of Captain Omer Neutra, an American-Israeli soldier, was among the remains of three deceased Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers returned by Hamas to Israel on Sunday, November 2 or 3, 2025. This transfer was facilitated by the Red Cross.
The report also stated that the other two soldiers whose bodies were returned were Colonel Assaf Hamami and Staff Sergeant Oz Daniel. All three were killed during the initial Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, and their bodies were subsequently taken into Gaza. Omer Neutra, 21, a native of Long Island, New York, was a lone soldier.
The report added that Neutra’s parents, Ronen and Orna Neutra, became prominent advocates for the return of all hostages, speaking at events like the Republican National Convention and numerous forums. They often talked about needing a grave so they could have closure and a place to mourn with dignity.
In addition to the report, the bodies were transferred to the National Center for Forensic Medicine for positive identification of the dead bodies.
