According to local authorities, the terrorist organization Boko Haram carried out an overnight attack in northeastern Borno State, Nigeria, killing over 60 people. At least five soldiers were killed when terrorists attacked the village of Darul Jamal, which is near a military camp on the Nigeria-Cameroon border, on Friday night. Following reports of the raid on the community, whose inhabitants had just returned after years of displacement, the Nigerian Air Force claimed to have killed 30 militants in strikes. The attack coincides with a rise in jihadist activity in northeastern Nigeria, where competitors, the West African branch of the Islamic State group, are intensifying their attacks and Boko Haram is engaged in combat.
