Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) claimed the life of a 22-year-old man in Karachi, Pakistan, in an unusual incident that brought the total number of deaths this year to three, according to ARY News.
PAM is primarily a central nervous system disease brought on by Naegleria fowleri, also known as "brain-eating" amoeba.
Aurangzeb, on July 7, after having gone swimming and having a picnic at a farmhouse in Quaidabad with his friends, became ill. Aurangzeb began exhibiting symptoms the following day, including fever and nausea. On July 10, he was brought to the hospital, and on July 11, the virus was identified.
