The falling out between Somalia and the United Arab Emirates in the Horn of Africa shows how tricky things are there. What stands out to me is that this split not only messes with their relationship but also changes the game in a spot super important for trade and keeping the seas safe. It seems like Somalia wants to show it's in charge and not bossed around, while the UAE is trying to get a stronger foothold in ports and trade routes. What's interesting is that this is happening when other countries are also trying to get influence, turning the Horn of Africa into a place where everyone's fighting for control. I think the main thing is that keeping things calm in the area means everyone needs to agree to respect each other's independence. In the end, this disagreement feels like the start of something new in African politics.
