Instead, Tony Hinchcliffe's remark calling Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage" forced the Trump campaign on the defensive amid a tight race for the White House with Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.

Will a sour campaign joke cost Trump dearly in terms of Latino voters, especially in the swing state of Pennsylvania, home to nearly half a million Puerto Ricans?
