Can a wrong APN affect the browsing speed of a smartphone?

Over the last few days, I have been having issues with slow browsing speeds on my phone. And I had to talk to a tech expert today. He told me it might likely be from the APN..

He asked that I tweak the APN to some other APN he gave me and the browsing speed was optimal again.

Can the APN settings of a mobile device affect it's browsing speed?

If you are using an overcrowded VPN server then the speed would definitely be affected.

A wrong APN would connect you to the wrong network and that would definitely affect the speed of your browsing.
