There are times that we see a WhatsApp message, read them and we don't want to reply. But WhatsApp gives you away because of the double blue tick that indicates that the message has been read.

Is it possible to read a WhatsApp message and the double blue tick doesn't happen?

Yes it's possible, you just have to go to your privacy settings then turn off your read recipient. This way when a message is sent, it would still show the double thick that it has been delivered but it will not turn blue when you read it. The down side to this setting is that you also won't know when someone has read your message, and you won't be able to see those who have viewed your status if am not mistaken.

WhatsApp always balances it. Anything you don't want others to see about your activities on the app, you won't see about others.

You can finish reading that particular message and still turned on the read receipt to continue from where you stopped

Sounds a lot like WhatsApp is giving users the freedom to choose whether to 'poison' themselves.
