Can one sue the school and it's owner for this?

There is a private university college close to me and they have a hostel for female students just opposite the main campus. Students pay heavily to secure hostel spaces. Just some few days ago, armed people entered the school hostel and raped dozens of female students.

Should the school take responsibility for this happening? Can I sue the school?!

If the hostel is run by the school, and students normally pay for security i think the first step would be to talk with the school cause the truth of the matter is that it's not their fault. Talk to them let's hear what they have to say. If they are not being positive about this, then you can take action.
