China Slaps 15% Counter Tariff On US, As Mexico, Canada Cut Deals With Trump, EU Braces For Levies

According to the report, US President Donald Trump on February 3 delayed the start of 25% tariffs on neighbor Canada for a month after making a similar move in Mexico’s case.

The report said that this comes after Ottawa struck a last-minute deal to tighten border measures against the flow of migrants and the drug fentanyl. The move seems to have pulled the North American neighbors back from the brink of a potentially damaging trade war. Following last-minute phone calls with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.

The report added that Trump said he was "very pleased" and was announcing a 30-day halt on the tariffs. Trump also agreed to halt tariffs on Mexico following a deal that was struck over a phone call with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on February 3.


President Trump is really smart. He is getting things done by being unpredictable. He knows the game. Canada and Mexico have no choice but to bow to the USA, unlike China, a strong economic and military power. Let us just wait and see the next updates.
