Based on a tweet on the X media platform, x.com/CoinMarketCap/status/1936197663931933117, today June 21, 2025, the Coinmarketcap site has been hacked, reported by the community and one of them is Jameson Lopp, the founder of the Casa wallet, where it was reported that a pop-up appeared asking visitors to connect/verify with a wallet extension such as Metamask, Trust, Phantom wallet etc. Of course, the purpose of asking to connect to a wallet is to steal the balance in the users' wallets.
CoinMarketCap confirmed the findings through its official X account. and confirmed the existence of a pop-up asking for wallet verification, and Coinmarketcap immediately fixed the site. but they also reminded visitors not to be fooled and connect their wallets.
