Compensation for losses due to mistake

If you are losing money due to a mistake, and the company making money is willing to compensate, what kind of compensation would you ask for? Would you ask the company to cover the loss or ask for an additional amount?

Sure I would asked them to paye money for damages which might even be bigger than the error or mistake money
