Computer seller only offering refund not replacement

The online computer seller is only offering a refund of the payment which was done if the computer is defective though I would prefer a replacement. Why do some computer sellers not offer a replacement for defective computers?

It depends, maybe the seller does not have another one to replace it with so the best he can do is to refund.

He has listed other desktops with similar specifications for sale on amazon, he is not giving a replacement only a refund of the amount paid.
