From Manila, Philippines news, Police arrested a 32-year-old construction worker for allegedly raping a 17-year-old female student in Barangay Bagong Silangan, Quezon City, late Saturday night, July 5, 2025, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported.
The report said that the incident occurred late Saturday night in a “vacant lot covered with banana trees” in Barangay Bagong Silangan, police said in a statement issued Tuesday.
The victim had just come from school and asked permission from her mother to buy food and school materials. While walking home, the suspect, reeking of alcohol, approached her and put his arm over her shoulder and knife point her.
The criminal threaten to kill her if she screamed, and forcibly dragged her into a dark, vacant area where he sexually assaulted and raped her, The victim managed to escape and sought help from a roving police patrol, which led to the suspect’s arrest.
The suspect was taken into the custody of the Quezon City Police District, undergoing inquest proceedings before the local prosecutor’s office for allegedly violating Republic Act 8353 or the Anti-Rape Law.
